Visual with motto
Competitor Research
At the beginning of the project, I conducted research and analysis of similar training services. I identified best design practices based on fundamental heuristic design principles. Together with the team, we decided to implement these practices to enhance the user experience of existing functions on the edX platform without the need to create new features.
Wireframes of Main Screens
After sharing the research results with the team, we collaborated to design the wireframes. During the research phase, I observed that the most common design issue with similar services was complex navigation. Therefore, we decided to focus primarily on creating a simple and intuitive navigation system.
Main Dashboard for Web
The main idea of dashboard was to make it out of widgets that varied depending on course status and progress.
Action Widget States
In the visual composition of the dashboard, I deliberately made the "Begin/Continue Learning" widget large and attractive, as this is a key scenario for the user. This design choice ensures that users can easily identify and access this critical function, enhancing their overall experience and encouraging continuous engagement with the platform.
Calendar Widget States
It was incredibly important for users to quickly navigate through the schedule and see when each module would be available. To address this need, the Calendar widget was created. In the case of approaching deadlines, the widget dynamically changes states and visually appears to burn, highlighting the urgency and prompting users to take immediate action. This design choice ensures that users are constantly aware of important deadlines and can manage their time effectively.
One challenge of online education is maintaining motivation to continue learning. To address this, we implemented a feature where clicking on a course card displays an inspirational phrase.
